What is the work you are representing?

I am the Owner & Operator of ForWard Consulting, LLC. The work that I represent is mental health consulting work.

How does your work contribute to the mental health support balance in the Black community in Iowa?

ForWard Consulting was actually created with the idea of bringing services to black community, meaning - making it more accessible, making it more equitable, and so, ForWard Consulting has always been about that. It's changed a little bit, I was wanting it to be a motivational speaking type deal that I could go out and train everybody about what I have heard in my corporate job about trauma, but then it became where I house mental health and consulting services. That is what I bring to the black community.

Why did you choose to say yes to this committee?

I don't think I had a choice.

When you get to think about the misnomers, the myths, and the stereotype that's attached to the black community and their health. I had to say yes so that's what I did.

Because if I didn't say yes, I would feel as if I was offering a disservice to those in my community.
