2024 Healthiest State Annual Award Winners Announced
Finalists honored during in person ceremony with Lt. Governor Adam Gregg
The Iowa Healthiest State Initiative has announced the winners of the 2024 Healthiest State Workplace, Individual, and Youth Power Awards. The winners were recognized for their efforts to improve the physical, social, and mental well-being of their employees and community during an in-person award ceremony on Wednesday, April 17th during the Workplace Wellbeing Conference. Lt. Governor Adam Gregg was in attendance to honor the winners and finalists’ work in their communities.
The winners in the 5 categories are:
Youth Power
o Lauren Schroeder (Dixon)
Individual Presented by Malvern Bank:
o Melanie Bauch (Clermont)
Workplace:
o Small – Grundy County Memorial Hospital (Grundy Center)
o Medium – Bayer CropScience (Muscatine)
o Large – Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company (Grinnell)
“The Annual Awards are our opportunity to highlight the amazing work being done by individuals and organizations across the state to support the well-being of their fellow Iowans,” said Jami Haberl, executive director of the Iowa Healthiest State Initiative. “Creating a healthier Iowa takes hard work and dedication; our finalists and winners provide a fantastic example for the rest of the state to follow.”
Winners of the Small, Medium, and Large Workplace categories were awarded a monetary prize to continue their work focused on improving the health and wellness at their site. Winners of the Youth Power and Individual Awards were awarded $1,000 to donate to a nonprofit organization of their choosing. Youth Power Award winner, Lauren Schroeder, selected the Calamus-Wheatland FFA Alumni Association, and Individual Award winner, Melanie Bauch, selected the Northeast Iowa Wellness and Recreation Center.
The remaining 2024 Healthiest State Annual Awards winners in the Early Care (small and large), K-12 School, and Health Care categories will be announced at the 5-2-1-0 Healthy Choices Count! Summit on October 23rd. The finalists in the remaining categories include:

Large Early Care Presented by Iowa Department of Health and Human Services:
o Little Friends of Living Faith (Clive)
o Red Oak Early Childhood Center (Red Oak)
Health Care Presented by Iowa Medical Society:
o Broadlawns Family Health Center (Des Moines)
o Clarinda Regional Health Center (Clarinda)
o Blank Children’s Pediatrics (Des Moines)
K-12 School Presented by HealthPartners UnityPoint Health:
o Mitchellville Elementary (Mitchellville)
o Ballard High School (Huxley)
o Clear Creek Elementary (Clear Lake)
