Iowa Healthiest State Initiative Announces New Board Leadership

April Schmaltz of Delta Dental of Iowa assumes role of Board President

The Iowa Healthiest State Initiative has announced leadership changes among its Board of Directors.

April Schmaltz, President and CEO of Delta Dental of Iowa, has been elected Board President. She will succeed Jeff Pomeranz, who has served as President since 2022. In addition, President of Hy-Vee Inc., Aaron Wiese, will remain in his role as Board Vice President. Becky Woody, President, HealthPartners UnityPoint Health, will serve as Board Treasurer.

"I am honored to lead our incredible board in advancing the mission of the Iowa Healthiest State Initiative," said Board President, April Schmaltz. "With the work of new and existing board members, and the HSI team, we will continue to make a lasting impact in the communities we serve by ensuring every Iowan has the opportunity to live their healthiest life."

The Iowa Healthiest State Initiative would like to thank long time board members whose terms conclude in October. Past Board President, Jeff Pomeranz, Past Board President Laura Jackson, and Past Board Treasurer, Nicole Crain for their dedication and service. They have served as HSI Board Members for a combined 20+ years. The ongoing programming and growth of the Iowa Healthiest State Initiative is due in part to their assistance and leadership.
