Double Up Food Bucks Program Announces Increase in Daily Match

Users can now match $15 per day in SNAP benefits for fruits and vegetables, up from $10

The Iowa Healthiest State Initiative announced that its Double Up Food Bucks program has increased the daily match for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits to $15, up from $10. The change takes effect immediately in all participating Double Up Food Bucks sites across Iowa.

“This increase is a huge update for families utilizing the Double Up Food Bucks program across the state,” said Jami Haberl, executive director of the Iowa Healthiest State Initiative. “Food-insecure families now have $5 more per day than they had last week to help put fresh fruits and vegetables on the table.”

SNAP users are automatically eligible for Double Up Food Bucks. The program empowers SNAP recipients to put more fresh fruits and vegetables on the table. For every dollar spent on produce, another dollar is matched in Double Up Food Bucks, up to $15 per day.

The program is available at 97 locations throughout Iowa, including select Fareway and Hy-Vee grocery stores, farmers markets, farm stands, CSAs and co-ops. SNAP users interested in enrolling can sign up at participating locations. Visit www.DoubleUpIowa.com for more information and a list of sites.
